Road To Meditation by Nalinii

What is meditation in my context?

Back then, I thought mediation is about closing your eyes and focusing on something without any distraction and by ages I realized it is not only about physical meditation, but meditation is also feeling calmness via serenity we achieved by our soul without any sense of belongings or I call it as inner meditation.

Benefits of Meditation 101: How To Meditate In Less Time

Let us see us what internet say

Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.

Things that give me a sense of calmness other than meditating:-

1)Hiking into a beautiful forest, focus on the birds chirping, focus on the waterfall water flowing non stop and enjoy the sound of the forest.

2) Smile. It can be a simple gesture like smiling to someone early in the morning then, the person returns your smile. πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‡ I used to do it to some random people in the morning. hihi. Smile is the simplest gift we can give to others.

3) Doing something for yourselves. It could as simple as taking hot shower after a very tiring day. Cooking a healthy meal for yourselves, sweaty workouts, asanas and many more. Treat yourselves. Traveling as well. hihihih

4)  Donate to others. It can be a form of food, money, blood. It can be anything including any form of help to others through you. Being a listener by giving your time is also a sense of calmness.

5) Pray. You can be any religion but praying can clear your mind as well. You tell your problem and stories to god where it is another way of achieving divine energy and mind relaxation. We pray to god to take care of ourselves and help us. That alone gives us the strength and courage that are not possible to achieve by any other mean.

6) Read. You can read any good book. Try to understand what the books trying to convey, give space to your thoughts, get lost in the book content and try to absorb what the book says. My favorite magazine is Thungesam.πŸ˜πŸ˜‡

How I meditate besides doing what is listed above:-

Let me tell a short story

I was introduced to meditation several times in different steps in my life
1) When I visited beautiful places in my dreams.
2) Through my spiritual readings.
3) My first attempt to meditate during my temple visit when I was in PLKN which helped by my friend Vaishini.
4) Finally, I found my correct way of meditation through my Childhood MRSM friend, Shalini.

Another way of meditation is by achieving a spiritual state of consciousness which is also called samadhi. Samadhi has different stages which I will explain in the next post. Meditation also helps to regulate your chakras which fuels your soul on a daily basis.

STEPS TO MEDITATE

1) First of all, clean yourselves, clean the surrounding place where you are going to meditate. Make sure this doesn't distract your concentration.

2) Choose a silent place and time. It can be early in the morning or evening when you are really free. Make sure you do not have anything rushing to complete or finish at that point of time.
3) You can light candles, open some calm music to help you meditate and concentrate. Well, that totally depends on you especially, when you are new to meditation.

4) Sit on a mat or cloth then, slowly close your eyes. Make sure you sit with body straight and lotus position.

5) Inhale and exhale for via your nose for few times.

6) Start imagining a white light that enters from the tip of your head to reach your Ajna chakra point in between your eyebrow.

I love working on the third eye! When it is balanced, charged ...

7) Inhale, hold for 10 secs and exhale slowly via nose. Do this for few times until u feel relax. At this point in time, you imagine yourselves lost in your own breath. you focus should be on your heart beats.

8) Then, imagine the white light travel slowly to your throat, heart, your navel and finally connecting to ground in between your legs.

9) At this point of time, imagine your whole body in deep concentration. Now imagine your whole body is enlightened. There is white light covering yourselves and produce some kind of heat around you.

10) At the same time inhale and exhale gradually. Imagine the white light in between your eyes grows like a  big ball.

11) DO this repetitively until you feel tightness in between your eyebrow and bottom of the backbone, some sense of warmness form in your palms.  While you are meditating, you remain undisturbed, and your inner beings function in dynamic and confident manner.

12) When you feel you are done with it. Rub your palms until it becomes warm and places your palm in between your eyebrow and top of your eyes.

13) Slowly, Open your eyes. Meditation duration depends on person to person. Start from 1 min then gradually increase the duration when you are ready.

When you body totally adapts to meditation, there will be no ideas or thoughts all. There is only infinite peace and bliss, her there is no mind. The knower and the known become one. You can meditate anywhere, anytime.

This is solely based on my experience of meditating for almost 3 years. It helps me go through a lot of heartbreak, problems, and desires that kill my inner energy. Hopefully, this guide to meditation will be useful for others as well similarly like how I benefit from this.

My Backpacking Story to India Sept 2019 (Day 3)

Now let us talk about day 3.

Leh Map

Our Driver, Rinjan reached at our hostel around 9.15am in the morning. On 3rd day we are just planning to sightsee around Leh to get ourselves acclimatize before we travel to another part of Ladakh which is higher altitude than Leh.

Our first location is Gurudwara Patthar Sahib.  It is a very pretty Gurudwara and they serve free food as well. We reached there around 10 am thus, we had some coffee, bhajji and sweet laddo.

Around 11 am we reach Sangam Point where we can see the confluence of Indus and Zanskar River.

Sangam Point

Indus river also known as Sindhu where the great Indus Valley Civilization begins which is also the lifeline of ancient cities like Harappa and Mohenjo - Daro. It originates at the confluence of the Sengge Zanbo and Gar Tsangpo rivers in Tibet. It then flows to Ladakh and merges with Zanskar River which flows to Pakistan. Zanskar river formed in the Zanskar valley with a combination of two rivers.

These both rivers meet at Sangam Point then flows to Pakistan.

Alchi Monestry

We left Sangam Point around 11.15 am , then we reach at Alchi Monestry around 12.20 pm.

Handa O.C. Reviewing Buddhist Ecclesiastic Art

This is one of the oldest monestry in Ladakh Region. There was one guide as well who was explaining about reaching Moksha and the essence behind it.

This is where the guide explained that human should do meditation to escape from birth cycle. We should remove three main character or habit to achieve Moksha which are hatred or anger represented by snake🐍  , birds for desire 🐦  and πŸ– for ignorance. That was a really fruitful explanation from the guide to be honest. It was spiritual and nice to hear the stories.

The Abortion of Karma

Then, we had our lunch at the Zimskhang Holiday Home restaurant. Around 2.30 pm we leave Alchi heading to our next destination which is Lamayuru. Another beautiful monestry and the journey along the way was too beautiful.

The trip to Lamayuru was super long and we get super tired because of the 3 hour plus journey from Lamayuru to Leh. Before we reach our hostel, we went to the last destination which Kargil Wall of Fame. we reach Wall of Fame at 6pm which is quite late because the entrance will be closed at 7pm but, we managed to cover the whole museum. There was 2 different part of the museum which is the outdoor and indoor section.  All the Kargil War warrior names who lost their life cited in the outdoor part and indoor section more about the history behind the war and the soldiers protected the country.

I think that's all. In the end of the day we enjoyed some nice meal at Leh town and sleep early for our next day trip. One last picture hihi :
